Participant profile

This program is designed for leaders (typically CEOs or Senior Executives) of established not-for-profit organisations or social enterprises, responsible for overall organisational performance and delivery of mission.

Given there is some overlap in content across programs, it is recommended that leaders pick only one program to join (whichever best suits your current role). Past participants are welcome to attend Mission Delivery again this year, but please note that much of the content covered will be the same as that covered in previous years.

What you get as a participant

1

Two standalone days of virtual programs facilitated by experienced McKinsey faculty (it is not necessary to attend ‘Leading Self and Teams’ to attend ‘Leading Organisations and Systems’)

2

Take-home tools and resources relevant to each concept covered, that you can use with your teams and organisation

3

A network of other leaders in the not-for-profit world for leaders to connect with outside the program and opportunities to hear about research and events

What the program looks like

Creating psychological safety: Explore what psychological safety is and its importance; understand how to begin building a psychologically safe environment to foster greater team effectiveness

Adaptive leadership: Understand what adaptive leadership is, how to identify adaptive problems, and the mindset and enablers required to lead in volatile and uncertain environments

Leading organisations and systems (1 day)

The social side of strategy: Define strategy in the context of your organisation and environment, and learn about barriers that can limit effective strategy-setting discussions

Changing mindsets and behaviours: Understand how cultural change happens, explore the difference between mindsets and behaviours, and apply the Influence Model to shift mindsets and behaviours positively

Measuring impact and data: Discuss options for measuring impact, and learn how data can be leveraged to improve impact tracking in your organisation

“After weeks of fighting fires, this was a much-needed chance to take time out and work on my organisation, not in it”

“First time I've been in a room of not-for-profit people, after 20+ years in the commercial sector. Such a relief to hear that the challenges are common!”
